COOKIE Policy

What are cookies?

Cookies are text files that store information about the visitor to the website on the visitor's computer. When the user returns to this page (e.g. online store), cookies can be used to display relevant pages/data in which the visitor was interested. This offers enormous user-friendliness, as the content of the website can be directly tailored to the user's interests.

Which data protection rules apply to cookies?

If cookies can establish a relationship to persons, such as: Email address, username, IP address or the like, the operator of the website must comply with the Data Protection Act (DSG). In addition, cookies must also comply with the data protection regulations of the Telecommunications Act (§ 96 Abs 3 TKG).

Frequently used cookies:

Session cookies are cookies that remain stored for a certain period of time. They are automatically deleted when the session is ended by closing the browser window.

Persistent cookies, on the other hand, are only deleted after a certain period of time has elapsed.

First-party cookies are cookies that have been set by the data protection client, such as the operator of the website on which the cookie is used.

Third-party cookies are set by third parties, i.e. not by the operator of the website just visited. This may be advertising banners, tracking pixels, social plugins, etc. A "cross-server" session is created. From this, the interests of the visitor can be inferred and websites can be adapted ("personalized") accordingly.

Examples of the use of cookies:

  • Online stores (session cookies)
  • Social plugins such as Facebook (third-party cookies)
  • Analysis tools such as Google Analytics (third-party cookies)
